Armenia Outlines Plan to Boost Ties, Reopen Transport Links

(MENAFN) According to reports, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that Armenia is seeking to further develop and strengthen relations with its neighboring countries as part of a broader regional policy approach.

While presenting the pre-election program of the ruling Civil Contract party, Pashinyan emphasized the importance of improving ties with Georgia, Iran, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan, noting that his party intends to continue advancing cooperation in this direction.

He also highlighted the need to fully reopen regional transport routes and infrastructure, pointing to planned initiatives such as the implementation of the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project and the possible launch of the Gyumri–Kars railway connection. These projects, according to his remarks, are intended to support greater regional connectivity and long-term stability.

Pashinyan noted that Armenia had previously engaged with both Azerbaijan and Türkiye through indirect channels involving third parties, which he suggested had complicated efforts toward achieving lasting peace. He stated that this approach has since been revised in favor of more direct engagement.

He further expressed Armenia’s interest in participating in the regional “3+3” cooperation format, indicating readiness to take an active role in multilateral discussions aimed at improving dialogue and cooperation among countries in the region.
